My Ex Returns All Stuff – What Does It Mean?

By

There are a few possible reasons why your ex gave you back your things.

  1. They are tired of you and want to move on.
  2. They don’t want you to come up in conversation.
  3. They don’t want your things to be seen by a new date.
  4. They are looking for a reason to see you.

When a relationship ends, it hurts a lot, and it can be hard to figure out what things (and even non-things, like silence) mean. After all, you knew more about this person than anyone else. And now it’s like you went out with a stranger.

Does it mean he never wants to try again?

People often look for hidden meanings in every action and inaction: When they call, what does that mean? What does it mean when you don’t hear a sound?! What does it mean when they give you back your things? Here’s why you’re getting all your sweaters back at once:

1) If your ex gives back your things, it means that he or she is ready to move on. Yes, ow! But if they no longer like you, they won’t want to keep your things.

2) Your ex is dating again, and he or she doesn’t want to bring new people home to see your stuff. Sorry, that hurts again. It’s awful to think that someone you care about might no longer love you. But if it is true, getting your things back could help you start to heal. You know, putting things to rest…

There are, of course, many things to think about here. And not all of them hurt your self-esteem.

3) Your things remind your ex of painful memories. When a breakup is painful, no one wants reminders all over their house. When they see your stuff, it only reminds them of what happened.

Whether your ex wants a clean slate to start over or time to get themselves together, it makes sense to get rid of reminders for a while.

Of course, if your ex feels bad when they see your things lying around, that means they still care. So, if you find a box of your things, it could mean you still have a chance to get back together.

In fact, your story may not be over if your ex looks sad when you pick up your things and says it hurts them to see them.

Now I’ll talk about the fourth reason:

4) Your ex gave you back your things so they could see you again. After all, there aren’t many ways to see each other that are socially acceptable after a breakup. Your ex may be trying to get in touch with you because they want a reason to check up on you.

Think about how your ex got in touch with you and how the “handover” took place. Did your ex insist on handing back your things in person? Even if a friend could have done it for them?

As you can see, there are both good and bad reasons why an ex might give you back your stuff. Even though it’s easy to think the worst, it’s better to keep an open mind. It could mean that the relationship is over for good, but it might not. It’s probably too early to tell, and sometimes you find a spark a little further down the road. But if your ex shows signs that he or she misses you or stays around longer than necessary? You should think about what you can do.
